Prices Just Came Down

In late March 2026, Novo Nordisk announced significant price reductions on Wegovy in South Africa. The starting dose dropped from around R3,090 to roughly R1,873 per month. The maximum dose dropped 27 percent to around R3,746. A second reduction was submitted shortly after.

Yes. Wegovy is a Schedule 4 prescription only medicine. A registered SA doctor must assess your medical history before a prescription can be issued. Buying semaglutide from unregulated online sources is risky. SAHPRA has issued warnings about falsified products.

Appetite changes are often noticeable within the first two weeks on the starting 0.25 mg dose. Meaningful weight changes typically appear over the first few months, with most clinical trial response building through 68 weeks at full dose.
